Arena beach is a beautiful wide sandy beach located just 10-15 minutes drive from Heraklion, making it easy to access. With its sandy bottom that slopes gently into the sea, calm waters, and shallow depth, it’s an excellent beach for families with children.

- Swimming & Sunbathing – The shallow and mostly calm waters make Arena beach ideal for swimming, especially for kids. Visitors can also relax on the soft sand.
- Beach Sports – There’s ample space to play beach volleyball, soccer, paddleball and more right on the sand. The beach also has good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
- Water Sports – Visitors can take surfing, stand up paddleboarding (SUP), and snorkeling lessons and rentals nearby. Snorkelers can spot seagrass meadows just 500 m offshore.
- Scenic Views – Relax on the beach while planes land at the Heraklion airport in the distance. Stunning sunsets over the sea are also common.
